Xenical inhibits some fraction of fat absorption, but if you eat a great deal of fat, you'll still absorb lots and have lots go into your colon. So if whatever your heart desires includes lots of fat, you'll be spending most of your time on the toilet, and when you get off, you'll still have gained weight. If you ignore the side effects, yes, these drugs act a bit like intestinal bypass. Some of your food calories passes through without being absorbed (you ordinarly get more than 90% of food calories-- your body is very efficient digestively), and heath-wise this is no different than scraping half your dinner into the toilet directly. In theory, it should work as well. But you don't get to taste it if you do the toilet treatment directly, you say. Well, there's still the old vomitorium after the feast. Of course, your teeth suffer. SBH |
